COMMUNITY FOR A CAUSE

Our Mission Statement

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) that aims to protect, feed, clothe, and educate the vulnerable populations of New York.  We aim to promote Peace through community building and community outreach.  We believe when the people in a community unite for a cause, anything can be accomplished. We also believe every little bit helps.  Join our Community and Join the Cause~

Childhood Lead Poisoning is More Common than You May Think

C4AC remains committed to advocating for Children with Special Needs.  Despite only being three months into this year, several New York City Schools have found dangerous Lead Levels in drinking water faucets far exceeding those found in Flint, Michigan.  About 33,000 water fountains to be exact.  Borough Presidents have pushed the DOE to provide free bottled water and child blood lead testing at affected schools.  But what makes matters worse is that the NYS Department of Health currently posts "elevated blood lead levels"  for children as 2x the official CDC standard of  5ug/dL. This was originally established back in 2012. THIS MEANS WE ALLOW 2X THE AMOUNT OF LEAD IN CHILDREN'S BLOOD AS IS RECOMMENDED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

Our goal is to encourage all New Yorkers to SIGN OUR PETITION, tweet, write, and call the local NYS DOH to ask them to update New York standards of "elevated" Childhood Blood Lead Levels, so that proper CDC recommended actions can be taken.  When you tweet, be sure to use hashtag
#LeadFreeNYC  and tag our local Health Department via @HealthNYGov.   Let's work together to get the Lead Out!
